Healing What's Left Behind

Season 2

"WTF? I thought I was over it!"

A Guide to Creating Joy in Defiance of the Memories.

Are you ready to

heal what's left behind?

A virtual series dedicated to the healing of sexual assault survivors

Dear Kindred Survivor,

Or friend or family of a survivor,

or simply someone who cares about this topic very much...

This series will change the world.

Strong statement, I know.

But if you've read my story,

you know I have been mentoring, coaching, and sponsoring

sexual assault survivors for many decades.

And you know I have lived my entire life as a survivor

of severe, recurring sexual abuse.

Most women have a story.

Maybe not one as severe as mine,

or the women I have mentored,

but most women have a story about boundary-crossing.

Violation.

That time you didn't want that thing to happen but you thought,

"Eh, whatever, it'll be done soon."

That is a boundary that was crossed.

A violation.

A micro-assault on your womanhood,

your self-trust,

and your soul.

These stories keep us small.

Most of the time, they keep us small in ways we're not even aware of.

And since most women have a story,

you know what that means?

That means most women are being kept small.

This series will change the world because

it teaches survivors that even though boundaries were crossed,

possibly many different times,

we all have an inherent divine presence within us

that is untouchable.

I call it the divinity within.

Imagine a world where all sexual assault survivors know their true,

divine nature?

A world where survivors understand their divinely-given power?

Their divinely-given gifts?

It's not utopia.

It is unknown.

We don't actually know what that world will look like,

because we've never been there before as a modern society.

But we are heading there now.

The first step?

We congregate.

Will you join me?

Are you ready to

heal what's left behind?

This project is a virtual series hosted by Deborah Halvorson,

and created by Deborah and her daughter, Dr. Ellen Halvorson.

Healing What's Left Behind is for sexual assault survivors.

It is for anyone who has ever felt sexually violated.

Every season is a free, 3-day event with experts in the field of authenticity, defiance, growth, creativity, healing, and community.

Each Guest Expert sits down for a conversation with Deborah.

Together, they delve into ideas, experiences, and possibilities

surrounding each season's topic.

Then each Guest Expert gets a chance to teach.

They introduce brilliant new practices for you to explore

on your own healing path.

There is no single path to healing.

It is not linear.

Our purpose is to provide sexual assault survivors with

as many opportunities and options as we can,

for you to choose and use on your healing journey.

The other purpose?

Community.

The more we come together, the more we heal.

“That’s what Ayurveda has been for me… How do I be well? Well in my body, well in my mind, well in my heart, with feelings of joy.”

"When we bring pleasure or feeling good into the equation of healing, we can wonder, is this a bypass? No. It is a pathway to transmuting pain."

“Joy and a peaceful life are available to everybody. Some people don’t know that. And so they don’t choose it.”

“Our greatest freedom comes from letting go of the idea that what happened to us should not have happened.”

“When you feel joy,

you really can’t feel fear at the same time.”

“Betrayal uncovers the truth. It uncovers the truth about all of those unhealed places inside of us.

“Healing doesn’t have to be this painful drudgery, it doesn’t have to be complex… Healing can be easeful."

"You can feel angry, and sad, and like a victim, and like a survivor and a warrior… all at the same time… and be joyful."

“It’s that level of powerlessness and helplessness at the root of it all that takes away all our joy.”

“If we want to experience greater and greater levels of joy, then we have to be willing to experience greater and greater levels of pain or sadness or grief or shame.”

Healing What's Left Behind is based off Deborah's book,

Deborah's Story

I was 27 when I first dared to acknowledged the abuse.

It was terrifying to speak the truth while I was still in the abuse cycle. As you can imagine, it was not well received. But once I told the truth, I couldn’t take it back.

I believed ME. I chose ME.

There was within me a power and courage so strong that I never doubted my memories or the truth - a power and courage that lives within each one of us.

I was able to break away. At the age of 27 I left behind everything and nearly everyone I knew.

I understand that through the depth of suffering and pain I’ve lived through, survived, and healed from, the life I live and who I am today is an anomaly. And I support other sexual assault survivors in becoming the anomaly in their world as well.

I am a survivor of familial sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and satanic cult ritual abuse. None of it was my fault.

I was raised by two very fractured and damaged parents. They were raised, in turn, by fractured and damaged parents. We are what we learn - until we learn something new.

I have learned something new. The family cycle of sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and satanic cult ritual abuse stops with me. In fact, I believe my primary purpose in this life is to stop the family cycle of abuse that has raged rampant for generations in my family.

However, this abuse cycle couldn’t be stopped until I recognized there actually was an abuse cycle. Which means I had to acknowledge the truth. A truth I was conditioned over and over and over again to deny.

I was conditioned at a very young age to believe that I would be severely punished if I told the truth. Or worse, one of my siblings would be severely punished and it would be my fault.

I was trapped in a psychosphere of abuse and dysfunction. Nothing was safe.

And so began the next phase of my healing evolution. An evolution and journey which presented me daily the choice of choosing the unfamiliar and many times uncomfortable path rather than the familiar path that just keeps repeating the conditioning.

I continuously choose my healing journey.

I choose ME over and over again. While some may see this as selfish, what I know to be true is if I’m not safe and I don’t trust ME, how can I be that with anyone else? I can only be that which I know.

So healing from sexual assault, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, satanic cult ritual abuse is an unlearning of what I was taught and conditioned to believe about myself.

It’s a slow evolution of ebb and flow between struggle and joy.

I know what it’s like to be lost in the jungle and I’ve found a way through. It is now my passion and calling to work with and support other sexual assault survivors to find their own way through the jungle.

Healing What's Left Behind is the virtual series my daughter and I created together - are creating together, as it will be forever in motion, forever in process, just like all of us. This project is an inter-generational force of the collective woman, coming together to heal. We heal together.
